Charles Perry House in Westerly, Rhode Island along the Pawcatuck River, the first stop leading through the Blackstone Valley Route through CT and central MA.

 

Elizabeth Buffum Chase, a Quaker from Valley Falls, a town north of suburb of Providence, described a number of incidents involving fugitive that were aided by her and her husband.  She also described the network in place that led to her home.  It began in Cape Cod went through New Bedford, then to Fall River, and then on to her home.  Other accounts describe a route that began in Westerly and went through Ashaway and Hopkinton to Uxbridge, Massachusetts and the home of Effingham Capron.

 

 

Above is the inlet to the Pawtucket River, which the Perry house faces,  that leads to the Atlantic Ocean.
